A Need For Accessible Training

With 43 sites across the UK and over 600 employees, Goals Football is one of the country’s leading small-sided football providers. Running such a fast-paced leisure business means managers and staff need clear, accessible training, without losing valuable time on the shop floor.

For Marcus Strudwick, L&D Manager at Goals, this was a constant challenge:

“We’re a lean, fast-moving business. Spare hours for training just aren’t always available. I needed something that could both free up my time and improve how quickly our people could access learning.”

‍

Making Training Work for Gen Z and Beyond

Goals’ workforce is heavily Gen Z, a generation that expects short, mobile-first learning. But Marcus was conscious of engaging all team members in their training.

Reelyze’s Reels and Ask Eve features were the answer. Reels turn training into quick, social-style videos, while Ask Eve is an AI-powered knowledge assistant that staff can access 24/7.

Feedback from across the organisation has been overwhelmingly positive:

  • Younger staff embraced the familiar, scrollable video format.
  • More experienced staff, initially sceptical, were surprised at how accessible and useful it was.

“Reelyze has actually bridged the generational gap. Everyone’s engaging with it, and everyone sees the value,” Marcus explained.

‍

Giving Managers Their Time Back

Before Reelyze, Marcus’ calendar was packed with one-to-one training sessions, documentation reviews, and in-person workshops. Now, much of that time has been reclaimed.

  • In just five months live, Goals staff asked over 1,400 questions through Ask Eve.
  • Eve successfully answered 71% of them instantly, with the remaining 29% highlighting genuine knowledge gaps the business could quickly address.
  • This equates to 230+ hours of productivity saved, time that would otherwise have been lost to emails, calls, and delays.

“Those 1,400 questions represent 1,400 emails that weren’t sent,” Marcus noted. “That’s managers’ time given back, and money saved for the business.”

Managers also reported a cultural shift. Instead of fielding constant WhatsApp messages after hours, they can now point staff directly to Eve, ensuring they truly switch off when not on shift.

‍

Fun, Flexible Learning that Opens Doors

Beyond compliance and day-to-day queries, Reelyze has opened new learning opportunities. A bar staff member, for example, can now access bite-sized maintenance training, empowering them to explore future career paths within Goals.

For Marcus personally, the impact has been huge:

“Reelyze has made my role more fun. Training modules that used to take days to build I can now create in hours, sometimes even minutes. And our people enjoy using it. It doesn’t feel like traditional training.”

‍

Looking Ahead

With compliance modules recently added to Reelyze and future plans to expand into appraisals and one-to-ones, Marcus sees the platform becoming an all-in-one hub for L&D at Goals.

“Eve is now our most knowledgeable team member. It’s available 24/7, 365 days a year, and it never takes a holiday. That’s transformed how we work.”
